Fluoropolymers for molding and extrusion

DAIKIN Fluoroplastics are engineered and manufactured to be used in extreme environments and conditions. They are widely used in automotive, aircraft, semiconductor applications and common household appliances because of their unique properties. For each product type we have created a wide number of grades, allowing you to select the melt flow index, particle size, melting point, strength, flex life, or other polymer property that meets your application needs.

PTFE Molding PowdersDetails

PTFE has the highest melting point and lowest friction, and is the most inert of all the fluoropolymers. It has a continuous service temperature rating of 260°C. POLYFLON PTFE Molding Powders are excellent, fine cut granular resins, well suited for a variety of demanding chemical, mechanical, electrical non-stick surface applications. POLYFLON PTFE Molding Powders are available in homopolymer and modified grades.

Product information

PFADetails

NEOFLON PFA (Perfluoro Alkoxy) is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether. Like PTFE and FEP, it is fully fluorinated. Like FEP, it is melt processible. It has a continuous service temperature of -200°C to +260°C. Like PTFE, PFA has extreme chemical inertness, excellent slip and release properties, and excellent electrical properties. In addition, PFA provides excellent high temperature mechanical properties. DAIKIN Industries produces two types of PFA, industrial grades and semiconductor, also called "SH", grades. Both types can be easily processed by typical plastics processing methods. Semiconductor grades have the additional benefit of being extremely low in metal and fluoride ion extractions, meeting all semiconductor requirements. Anti-static industrial grades are also available.

FEPDetails

NEOFLON FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene copolymer) is a melt processible fluoropolymer. Although it is lower melting than PTFE, it still maintains a continuous service temperature of 200°C. Because FEP is fully fluorinated like PTFE, it is extremely inert, has excellent electrical properties, high chemical stability, low friction, excellent long term weathering and very good low temperature properties. It is used in wire insulation, cable jacketing, film, sheet, tubing, lining applications.

ETFEDetails

NEOFLON ETFE is an alternating copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene. Although not fully fluorinated, ETFE maintains high performance characteristics such as high temperature resistance (continuous service temperature of 150°C), very good electrical properties, and very good chemical inertness. And, ETFE is tougher and more abrasion resistant than the fully fluorinated products, making it ideally suited for demanding applications in Oil & Gas, Automotive, Aerospace and Photovoltaic. DAIKIN also offers ETFE that can be adhered to polyamide for multilayer tubing without the use of adhesive or tie layer.

Technical data sheet

EFEPDetails

NEOFLON EFEP is a polymer unique to DAIKIN Industries. It is a terpolymer of ethylene, tetrafluoroethylene, and hexafluoropropylene. It was designed to have many of the mechanical properties of ETFE, but with a lower processing temperature, allowing it to be coextruded with conventional thermoplastic polymers like polyamide, EVOH, and modified polyethylene. Due to its bonding ability it adheres to these plastics without the use of adhesives or tie layers. It is used in monowall and multilayer tubing, low permeation automotive fuel hose, blow molded bottles and containers.

PCTFEDetails

NEOFLON PCTFE is a homopolymer of chlorotrifluoroethylene. It is melt processible and has a number of unique properties like very low moisture absorption and permeation. It is highly resistant to cold flow, very rigid, tough, has excellent dimensional stability and extremely good low temperature properties. It is especially applicable as a valve component material in cryogenic fluid service.
